First, we visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, a 147-acre haven of biodiversity near Kandy, home to over 4,000 plant species, including rare orchids and towering palms. The Avenue of Memorial Trees is a unique feature, where global leaders like Queen Elizabeth II and Yuri Gagarin have planted trees to mark their visits.

Next, we head to the University of Peradeniya, nestled amidst lush greenery and stunning colonial-era architecture. This prestigious institution blends academic excellence with the natural beauty of its 700-hectare campus, featuring notable landmarks like the Peradeniya Library and the Sarachchandra Open-Air Theatre.

We then discover Embekka Devalaya, a 14th-century temple renowned for its intricate wooden carvings in the Drummers’ Hall, showcasing the unmatched skill of ancient craftsmen and the temple’s spiritual serenity.

Lankatilaka Vihara, perched on a rock outcrop, is a stunning Buddhist temple built during the 14th century, featuring intricate carvings and a serene Buddha statue. The temple offers breathtaking views and symbolizes Sri Lanka’s rich religious heritage and harmony.

The Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) in Kandy is one of Sri Lanka’s most revered religious sites. Home to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, it is also famous for the Esala Perahera, a grand procession featuring drummers, dancers, and elephants, including the beloved Raja the Elephant.

Lastly, we visit the Nelligala International Buddhist Centre, a modern temple in the hills of Mawathagama. The giant Buddha statue and peaceful surroundings offer visitors a serene retreat for meditation and reflection, surrounded by nature’s beauty.
