$STEEM put in a massive move to the upside this week, on news that the community would bee hardforking the existing chain onto a new network dubbed $HIVE.

The leading blockchain based social media network, has now seen it's chain, and it's community, effectively split in two.

The STEEM blockchain and the Steemit.com front-end continues to exist, albeit, as a centralized husk of it's former self, as the fallout of February's acquisition of Steemit Inc. by Justin Sun and the Tron Foundation, played itself out to a predictable conclusion: the community split off in the form of a hardfork on Friday, March 20th, 2020.

The exodus of STEEMIT users disenchanted with the centralized turn the blockchain took when Justin Sun and a number of exchanges colluded to wrestle control of the chain away from the existing governing structure, now find themselves on the new social media platform HIVE (https://hive.blog/)
