We are delighted to welcome Rev. Doug Norris to Saint Luke’s for this Covenanting Service of Rev. Jim as our new Minister. Doug retired from active ministry in 2019 following 18 years at Rosedale United Church where he worked often with key lay leader Jim Harbell, and the two are now colleagues and friends. Doug served congregations in Québec and Guelph before Toronto, and in retirement has been Director of a cancer care retreat center as well as a teacher and trainer for construction carpentry. Doug and wife Heather live in the Algonquin Highlands.

This Sunday we are joined into a covenantal relationship with God and between Rev. Jim Harbell, Saint Luke’s community of faith, and the wider United Church as represented by Shining Waters Regional Council. Although God’s covenant with us never changes, our covenants with one another evolve as we seek ways to faithfully deepen our commitment to Jesus and live into our call to embody God’s love in the world.
