Fifo's Night Review - A Great, Free 3D Platformer

Fifo’s Night is a new 3D platformer developed by students at Lightbox Academy. It’s a family-friendly, Halloween-themed game, and it’s free! I played a preview build earlier this year and came away impressed, but how does the final game stack up to that previous version? Find out in today’s review of Fifo’s Night!

Heads up though: I helped the developers playtest an early build of Fifo’s Night, offered suggestions, and fixed some translation issues on the Steam page. I was not paid for my work and they haven’t asked me to give a good review or anything like that – you are getting my honest thoughts, but if that turns you off, I understand.

Fifo’s Night has a lot going for it. From its fun, gorgeous aesthetic to the mechanics. They really nailed the game feel that’s so crucial for 3D platformers. Movement and jumping are perfectly balanced, and the camera doesn’t get lost or stuck on objects. There are some downsides though, like how easy the game is and the lack of a plot. Still, for a free game by college students, Fifo’s Night is a home run.
