Louisiana needs your help to acquire the GPS data needed on benchmarks that will help NGS reach their goal of creating a 1 cm GEOID across the entire continental United States. Louisiana has a limited amount of data that is needed to feed the models that will be used to create future datums. To make matters worse the data NGS has in Louisiana are not well distributed to make the models work as well as they can and the work to collect all this vital data is just too big for NGS to do on their own. Many surveyors in Louisiana along with C4G in it's roll as the Louisiana Spatial Reference Center have been busy since NGS asked for help in the effort to collect the data needed since 2013 when NGS pointed out that they needed local help to collect the needed data.

GPS is a huge statewide initiative and the window to get as many of the benchmark targets defined by NGS into their database is closing fast. We need to get as many of the targets collected as possible prior to the end of this December 2021. After the end of December 2021 we will need to continue to collect any remaining benchmark targets to feed future NGS models. Help bring the GEOID in Louisiana from +/- 8cm to +/- 1cm by locating, occupying and submitting the data you collect for as many of the NGS targets you can prior to the end of December to help improve the tools we all use to get accurate advanced positioning in Louisiana!
