What I Learned from Growing Sweet Potatoes in a Tiny Space!

Last year we grew potatoes in some of the free buckets we got from our local grocery store bakeries. This season we decided to try growing sweet potatoes in buckets; however, these are not 5 gallon buckets. They are 3.5 gallon buckets, so they are a little on the smaller side.

Our question in this sweet potato experiment was whether or not this was enough space for to produce a meaningful sweet potato harvest.

In this 2024 sweet potato harvest video, you will see the results of our growing in these buckets, and we will talk about some of the positives and some of the challenges with growing sweet potatoes in small spaces.

One thing is for sure, if you have never grown sweet potatoes before, and you have a bucket and want to give it a try, we think you should experiment around with sweet potatoes in small space gardening just like we did.
