The Artula Institute provides opportunities to express and teach environmental issues through the arts. The Institute's Washed Ashore project is turning plastic pollution from the ocean into large-scale educational art!

On 8/2/2010 The Global ARC interviewed Angela H. Pozzi, the Executive Director of the Washed Ashore project. Angela orchestrates the construction of towering, aesthetically striking sculptures of marine life that form a traveling exhibit of art and environmental education. An interdisciplinary environmental arts curriculum and a feature-length documentary accompany this work.

The exhibit also features a Styrofoam coral reef, a large walk-through plastic gyre (an enormous mobile which mimics the five worldwide gyres where plastic collects in the world's ocean) and an oil spill replica. Learn more at: www.washedashore.org.
