The country burst into protest over a foiled plot to kill Bashundhara Group Managing Director and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir. Human chain and protest rally were held for the second consecutive day on Sunday. Leaders of various political and cultural organisations and civil society members took part in the programme and condemned the incident. They demanded punishment to the perpetrators including masterminds of the plot. A desk report has been prepared on the basis of reports received from bureau chiefs and local correspondents.

Savar
A protest rally was organised by Savar local people at the bus stand Sunday morning. Cross section of society joined the programme. They called upon the government to beef up security of Bashundhara Group MD.

CTG
Port city Chattogram saw human chain in protest against repeated attempts on life of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir. The programme under the banner of East West Media Group Limited was held in front of Chattogram Press Club Sunday noon. The demonstrators demanded capital punishment to Saad, a youth arrested in connection with the plot. Participants of the human chain vowed to go for a tough movement if severe punishment is not meted out to perpetrators including masterminds.

Rajshahi
Businessmen organised a human chain at Zero Point at Saheb Bazar in Rajshahi city condemning the assassination plot. They demanded immediate arrest of Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and his son Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun for masterminding the plot.

Rangpur
In Rangpur, business fraternity held a human chain as a symbol of protest against a foiled plan to kill Bashundhara MD. The programme was held in front of the local Press Club.

Sylhet
Daily Kaler Kantho’s social organisation Subho Sangha arranged a human chain in the city of Sylhet protesting the assassination plot. The event was held in front of Kobi Nazrul Auditorium. The demonstrators said Bashundhara Group created employment and livelihood of lakhs of people of the country. A vested quarter is in a desperate bid to malign the Group repeatedly.

Mymensingh
An hour-long human chain took place in front of Govt Shahid Smriti Adarsha College at Nandail of Mymensingh. People of different sectors joined the programme. They also held protest rally and took out procession over the same issue.

B’Baria
Human chain and protest rally were held in the precinct of Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Library of Brahmanbaria. Different social and cultural personalities joined the programme.

Sunamganj
The district of Sunamganj witnessed human chain and protest rally over the plot to kill Bashundhara Group MD. People from different strata of the society attended the programme held in front of Zila Krira Sanstha.

Patuakhali
Protest rally was held in front of Patuakhali Press Club in protest against a plot to kill Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Chandpur
A human chain under the banner of Sacheton Nagorik Samaj (a platform of conscious citizens) was held at Matlab Uttar in Chandpur. Organised at Upazila Parishad Complex, the programme condemned the plot and demanded exemplary punishment to culprits.

Satkhira
Sammilita Sangbadik Oikya Parishad arranged a rally at Satkhira over the foiled plot on life of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir. They demanded immediate arrest of masterminds and punishment to all involved in the incident.

Jamalpur
In Jamalpur Press Club auditorium, a rally was held in protest against the assassination plot. Zila Press Club president Yusuf Ali presided over the programme which was attended by other journalists, Bashundhara Cement officials and other section of people.

The participants demanded masterminds of the plot to be arrested and brought to book.
