In this video, we will learn how to create protected routes in React JS using React Router v6.

In any application, there may be certain routes that should only be accessed by authenticated users. These protected routes may contain sensitive information or functionality that should only be available to authorized users. To implement this functionality, we need to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access these routes.

React Router v6 provides us with the ability to create protected routes in our application. We can use the Protected Route component to check whether the user is authenticated or not and render the appropriate component based on the user's status.

In our application, we can retrieve the authenticated user from the Redux store. This is done by dispatching an action that retrieves the user's details from the backend API and stores them in the Redux store. Once we have the user's details, we can pass them down to the Protected Route component as props.

The Protected Route component checks whether the user is authenticated or not. If the user is authenticated, the component renders the child component passed as a prop using the 'children' prop. If the user is not authenticated, the component redirects to the login page.

To protect nested routes, we can use the Outlet component provided by React Router v6. The Outlet component allows us to render nested routes within our application. We can use the Protected Route component in conjunction with the Outlet component to create protected nested routes in our application.

To redirect to the login page if the user is not authenticated, we can use the Navigate component from React Router v6. The Navigate component is used to navigate to different routes within our application. We can use this component to redirect to the login page if the user is not authenticated.

Finally, we can protect multiple routes using the Protected Route component. We can pass an array of routes that need to be protected as props to the Protected Route component. This allows us to easily protect multiple routes within our application.

In conclusion, creating protected routes in React JS using React Router v6 is a crucial step in ensuring that unauthorized users cannot access certain parts of our application. By using the Protected Route component, we can easily create protected routes in our application and ensure that our users' sensitive information and functionality are secure.
