Daisy Red Ryder Model 94: Part 4-Trimming compression cup

Описание к видео Daisy Red Ryder Model 94: Part 4-Trimming compression cup

Greetings All,

This is a quick look at a technique to adapt newer Daisy parts to function in older guns with out having break out the leather punches to cut new seals. There are two sizes of compression cup seals currently sold by Daisy as replacement parts, the Model 25 compression cup and the Model 1938B compression cup. Both cups are some sort of polymer/plastic/vinyl but I do not know their actual composition, I do know these products are made in China and there is currently some lag in the supply chain.

The model 25 compression cup mic's out at .82" ish on my inexpensive micrometer and the Red Ryder cup is slightly larger at .90 ish. The factory leather seals that normally show up in the older small frame Daisy's I prefer to work on typically run about .80 ish so if you're looking to replace a worn out leather seal with a newer compression cup you're gonna be faced with the need to reduce the diameter of the Model 25 cup by about .02 ish on the very end of the seal to get it into the gun and run smoothly. Not impossible as this video illustrates, but it does require a light touch and it would be smart to have more that one replacement seal if your are learning as you go.

The next video in this series will be about fitting the newly tapered cup into the gun and seeing if it works!

Thanks for watching!
