Many students never heard of Alice Paul, a major figure in the suffrage movement, or of the evolution of women's movements throughout history. The Gerritsen Collection is one of the world's most comprehensive digitized collections documenting four centuries of women's history. Miami University faculty and students in a wide range of disciplines and classes-- especially history, political science, English, religion, anthropology, and women, gender and sexuality studies would benefit from the huge array of multi-national pamphlets, books, and periodicals preserved in this collection. Included are the full runs of several feminist periodicals including many international suffrage newspapers including the Woman's Journal, the paper of record for the National American Woman Suffrage Association.

The Gerritsen Collection is the go-to collection for historians of women, sex, and gender in the Western world. The collection would provide major, foundational primary sources for honors and master's theses, as well as support faculty research. The libraries, in conjunction with faculty in the history and political science departments, are asking for a matching grant to purchase the online collection. (Grant Request: $14,905)
