(CPKC) - CP 7020 Vet. Unit UP Grain Train w/ KCS South - Salida Blvd. Railroad Crossing, Modesto CA

(Filmed December 22, 2024) For my only catch of this day, I hurried down to Salida/ north Modesto to get ahead of a southbound UP grain train that had an all CPKC - Canadian Pacific/ Kansas City Southern consist with CP 7020, the Army Temperate Regions unit, leading. This was CP 7020’s second trek through the NorCal Valley within a three-week timespan in which I missed it the first time. I’ve been down on my luck when it came to catching these Canadian Pacific Veterans unit coming through my area within the last few years but I’m glad I got it this time around. I setup here at Salida Boulevard to catch it. According to Google Maps, this crossing sits within the boundaries of Modesto. I initially didn’t get a good look of CP 7020 on the Stockton Railcam and it wasn’t until it got to my location and that’s when I realized what it actually was. This crossing owned by Union Pacific is a UP late 1990s to early 2000s install with changes to their bells, lights, light heads, gates and gate lights.
