How To Start An Author YouTube Channel

How do you start an author youtube channel?

We’ve all heard countless times how important it is to create an author platform. But did you know that creating an author youtube channel is another social media platform. One where you can not only grow your author platform but also make additional income for your self-publishing business?

Not to mention that Youtube is a huge search engine owned by Google which is the world’s largest search engine. So if you want a great chance for showing up in google search, creating an author youtube channel couldn’t hurt. And don’t worry if you’re a shy, introvert, you can still start a channel.

So if you’ve been thinking about creating a youtube channel, I’m going to share with you some tips on how to start an author youtube channel.

1. You want to know your niche – What type of content do you want to discuss in your videos. If your goal is to help other authors, like I do, then you’ll want to create an authortube channel. If you want to just discuss books you like to read, you can do booktube, but if your goal is to really connect to your readers, then you want to create a branded author channel.

2. What’s going to make your channel different – The short answer is, you. Just like with creating a book, you can tell a similar story as someone else but since your experiences and points of view are unique to you, the way you tell that story will be different than other authors. The same is true for video content.

3. Channel Name and Channel Art – Depending on the kind of channel you’re going to make, your channel name could be as simple as your author name, if you’re doing a branded author channel.

4. Technical needs for creating an author youtube channel. Things like:

- Camera
- Microphone
- Lighting
- Editing
- Thumbnails
