Thanks to the support of US Forest Service, Southern California Edison and CAL FIRE’s Forest Health Program, the NFF successfully treated approximately 177 acres of fuels treatments as part of the Angelus Oaks Wildfire Resilience Project in the San Bernardino National Forest in 2021 and 2022.

The goal of this project is to promote forest health and resilience, as well as support the Angelus Oaks Community Protection Plan by eliminating hazardous fuels. The NFF also partnered with the Urban Conservation Corps to provide employment opportunities to youth of color from the San Bernardino area.

This project and CAL FIRE’s Forest Health Program are part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
