This large antique drop leaf table came over from Scotland some time ago and had seen some love through the years! The beautiful finish was in great shape, but the seams of the large timbers that were put together to make the top had begun to split over time. When the table was originally made, it was normal practice to use animal hide glue for these projects, but the glue just didn't last over time. It would dry out and start to flake away. But with a new, stronger adhesive and the addition of dowels, these timbers should hold for years to come!
