Carey McDonald is Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the UUA, leading the organization's engagement, programs, and strategy for the Millennial Generation. Prior to joining the UUA, Carey worked in educational policy, school finance, and key achievement gap issues on the Speaker's staff with the Ohio House of Representatives and later with the Ohio Department of Education. Carey is a seventh generation UU and a member of the First UU Church of Columbus in Columbus OH, where he grew up. He was active there as a youth leader in the Ohio Meadville District Youth Adult Committee and with Diverse and Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM). As a young adult leader, he served locally as a Coming of Age mentor, General Assembly delegate and co-chair of the Annual Budget Drive, and denominationally as a lay member of the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. Carey is a graduate of Pomona College in Claremont CA and is currently pursuing a MS in Organizational Leadership at Wheelock College.
