Hemifacial spasm is a brain and nerve disorder that is manifested as face twitching on one side, either the right or left. Many people are often surprised to know this, becuase it has symptoms in the eye, which the patient thinks is due to dry eye. However, the actual cause of hemifacial spasm is the compression of the facial nerve where it exits the brain. This is in fact the most common cause. Infrequently, it may be caused by brain tumour.
