Not the largest, but incredibly beautiful river Ilovlya attracts many fishermen with a large variety of fish, among which the most common in the cage are crucian carp, roach, ide, chub bream, and perch and a fairly large pike do not give them a quiet life. Ilovlya is a river in the European part of Russia, a left tributary of the Don. This small river, under the beautiful name Ilovlya, flows through the Saratov and Volgograd regions. The river originates and flows within the Volga Upland, the source and about 30 km. of the upper reaches are in the Saratov region. The source is near the village of Pervomayskoye, 30 km. south of the city of Krasnoarmeysk. It flows through the territory of the Krasnoarmeysky district of the Saratov region, as well as Kamyshinsky, Olkhovsky and Ilovlinsky of the Volgograd region. The river is 358 km long, the basin area is 9250 km2 - the 13th by basin area and the 7th by length tributary of the Don. The main tributaries are: Mokraya Olkhovka, Olkhovka, Bolshaya Kazanka, Shiryai (right); Gryaznukha and Berdich (left). Ilovlya is a typical flat steppe river. In the upper reaches, its banks are covered with thickets of bushes, in the middle and lower reaches along the banks there is a narrow strip of floodplain forest. The channel is winding, from 3 m (in the upper reaches) to 60 m (at the mouth) wide. Between the beginning of December and the end of March it freezes, in the summer it breaks up into separate reaches. It flows into the Don from the left at an altitude of 36 m above sea level, 604 km from the mouth of the Don.
The current speeds are low. On the river there are long sections overgrown with reeds, there are blockages of trees and even rare now beaver dams. The shooting was carried out on the Ilovlya River near the Krasnoyarsky farm (Kondrashovskoye rural settlement, Ilovlinsky district, Volgograd region).
