Our flight to Perth continues, now from Sydney, where I struggle to get a glimpse of the famous opera house from the air... I spotted a white pinprick (sigh). After arrival it was procedure as ususal (get the bags and the rental car, hotel check-in to dump the bags in), we were very hungry and needed to eat asap. Then we had a few hours to do some birding at Herdsman Lake. Our goal was to see new ducks as close as possible, mainly the Pink-eared Duck. Also to see our first Tawny Frogmouths at long last. That went well, after some help...
The ducks we found without help, not only the Pink-eared but also an Australian Shoveler. The latter was entirely uninterested in posing for photos and video (bummer).
