US Supreme Court 'votes to overturn abortion rights' prompting protests

The US Supreme Court has reportedly voted to overturn the landmark Roe v Wade decision that legalised abortion in America half a century ago.

Experts described it as a "constitutional earthquake" that would remove the nationwide right to abortion, leaving individual states to decide.

An initial draft majority opinion was leaked to Politico and showed that the country's highest court had decided on an issue that has been massively contentious for decades.
