10 Day Canoe Trip in Wabakimi! Whitewater Lake, Wendall Beckwith's Cabins, Cliff Lake

Here's our little home video of 10 days in Wabakimi from August 24th 2024 - September 2nd 2024

We don't really travel with the intention of recording our trip; however, what video we do get, we like to string together - the best we can.

Our float plane dropped us off in Oliver Lake and we traveled through Whitewater to Whiteclay, south on the Raymond River to Cliff Lake then out to the logging road by the Bear Camp on the Pikitigushi River. We had 7 moving days and two beautiful rest days on Cliff Lake.

With beautiful sunsets, beaches and 30° weather, we then encountered lightning and hail with single digit temps. We paddled big, big water and we still meandered through river sections too. We portaged through bogs and over the height of land, but also rock hopped on boulders around rapids. From brutal headwinds and waves crashing over bows, to (almost detrimental, I must admit) tail winds.... We experienced hornet attacks, bear sightings, more blueberries than we could handle and a few very long days. We even saw the northern lights and quite a few Golden Eagles! We explored Wendall Beckwith's cabins, plane ruins, found incredible historic pictographs, epic cliffs and an insane landscape that left us in awe. We caught and ate some wonderful fish, portaged through some gnarly bush and even rejuvenated an old forgotten campsite. It was definitely a beautifully memorable trip I'm sure we won't soon forget. 🛶
