Figure Workshop (Human Body in Clay) with Gerry Hoag @ MassArt PCE

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Working from live models, students build armatures, learn tool use and clay manipulation techniques while sculpting the figure in clay, and finally mold and cast these clay sculptures in plaster. Finishing and presentation methods are covered. Students learn the foundations of gesture, proportions and anatomical structures in an art historical context while exploring their personal and expressive vision. Individual attention in a supportive atmosphere characterizes this figure sculpture course. All levels are welcome and projects are individually tailored to each student's experience.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Gerry Hoag holds a BFA from MassArt and an MFA from Boston University School for the Arts. He has taught art at Boston University, New York Academy of Art, the Graduate School of Figurative Art, Harvard University, and the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.
