आज के इस वीडियो में हम English Grammar के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण और अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले topic — Narration को विस्तार से समझने वाले हैं। Narration को ही हम Direct & Indirect Speech या Reported Speech भी कहते हैं। यह topic CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, SSC, Banking, Railway, NDA, CDS, UPSC, CUET, TET और लगभग सभी competitive exams में बहुत ज़्यादा पूछा जाता है।

Narration क्या होती है? (What is Narration?)
Narration का मतलब होता है —
किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा कहे गए शब्दों को दूसरे व्यक्ति तक सही ढंग से पहुँचाना।
English Grammar में Narration के दो मुख्य प्रकार होते हैं:
Direct Speech (प्रत्यक्ष कथन)
Indirect Speech / Reported Speech (अप्रत्यक्ष कथन)

Direct Speech क्या है?
जब Speaker के exact words (जैसे के तैसे) बोले या लिखे जाते हैं, तो उसे Direct Speech कहते हैं।
Direct Speech की पहचान:
Quotation Marks (“ ”) का प्रयोग होता है
Speaker के शब्दों में कोई बदलाव नहीं होता
Example:
Ram said, “I am tired.”
यहाँ Ram के शब्द बिल्कुल वैसे ही लिखे गए हैं, इसलिए यह Direct Speech है।
Indirect Speech / Reported Speech क्या है?
जब किसी व्यक्ति के शब्दों को अपनी भाषा में, बिना quotation marks के बताया जाता है, तो उसे Indirect Speech या Reported Speech कहते हैं।
Example:
Ram said that he was tired.
यहाँ Ram के exact words नहीं हैं, बल्कि meaning वही है — इसलिए यह Indirect Speech है।
Narration बदलने की ज़रूरत क्यों पड़ती है?
Narration इसलिए ज़रूरी है क्योंकि:
हम हर बार exact words repeat नहीं करते
Report, News, Story, Conversation में Indirect Speech ज़्यादा natural लगती है
Exams में यह topic grammar accuracy check करता है
Narration के Main Parts
Narration में आमतौर पर 3 मुख्य parts होते हैं:
Reporting Verb – said, said to, told, asked आदि
Reported Speech – जो बात कही गई है
Reported Verb – speech के अंदर आने वाला verb
Reporting Verb क्या होता है?
Reporting Verb वह verb होता है जिससे पता चलता है कि किसने क्या कहा।
Common Reporting Verbs:
said
said to
told
asked
exclaimed
requested
ordered
advised
prayed

Direct से Indirect Speech बदलने के Golden Rules
इस वीडियो में Narration के सभी जरूरी rules detail में समझाए गए हैं:
Rule 1: Change in Reporting Verb
said → told / said
said to → told
says → says / tells
said (question) → asked
said (order) → ordered / commanded
said (request) → requested / begged
Rule 2: Change of Tense (Tense का बदलाव)
अगर Reporting Verb past tense में है, तो:
Present Simple → Past Simple
Present Continuous → Past Continuous
Present Perfect → Past Perfect
Past Simple → Past Perfect
Future (will) → would
लेकिन अगर Reporting Verb present या future में है, तो tense नहीं बदलता।
Rule 3: Change of Pronoun
Pronoun बदलते समय ध्यान रखें:
I / We → speaker के अनुसार
You → listener के अनुसार
He / She / They → subject के अनुसार
यह rule students को सबसे ज़्यादा confuse करता है, इसलिए वीडियो में trick के साथ समझाया गया है।
Rule 4: Change of Time (Time Adverbs)
Direct → Indirect
now → then
today → that day
yesterday → the previous day / the day before
tomorrow → the next day
last night → the previous night
Rule 5: Change of Place
here → there
this → that
these → those
Statements की Narration (Assertive Sentences)
जब sentence simple statement हो, तब:
that का use
reporting verb: said / told
पूरा तरीका step-by-step इस वीडियो में समझाया गया है।
Questions की Narration (Interrogative Sentences)
इस वीडियो में बताया गया है:
Yes/No question में if / whether
Wh-question में question word ही use होगा
Question का structure statement जैसा हो जाएगा
Commands & Requests की Narration
Command → ordered / commanded
Request → requested / begged
Verb की first form के साथ to लगाया जाता है
Exclamatory Sentences की Narration
Exclamatory sentences में:
exclaimed with joy / sorrow / surprise
interjection हटाया जाता है
full sentence statement बन जाता है
Optative Sentences (Blessings & Wishes)
“May God bless you!”
→ He prayed that God might bless me.

Common Mistakes in Narration
