St Michael’s Falls is a modest yet enchanting horsetail-style cascade nestled along the Empire Pass/North Lawson Waterfall Circuit in the Blue Mountains’ lush rainforest near Lawson.
Dropping about 6 m over layered sandstone into a clear, shallow pool, it’s most impressive following rainfall and otherwise a gentle trickle. Situated just off the main creek track—about 150 m downstream from Dante’s Glen—you access it via a short side-track featuring creek crossings and leafy understory. It sits within a serene rainforest amphitheatre, making it an ideal stop for photography, a quick dip, or simply soaking in the tranquil ambience during a moderate 5 km loop through enchanting Blue Mountains bushland.
