Over the years, some of Australia's leading country music songwriters have won the coveted "Song Of The Year" at the Tamworth Country Music Awards.
In 1988, it was won by Barry Forrester for this magnificent piece of Australiana, so finely interpretted by Alan Hawking.

The song runs for just a bit more than 2 minutes...but, even in that short time, it manages to transport the listener back to a time when Australia was more innocent...when pleasures were much more simple...
...the days when we really looked forward to one of the travelling tent shows visiting out town.

Alan Hawking was elevated to the Country Music Hands Of Fame in in 1977, along with his late brother, Russell, who had passed away the year before...
...and, songwriter Barry Forrester joined the Hands Of Fame cast in 1995.

This track was released in Australiaa in 1986 on an RCA 45, 104640.
The flipside was an instrumental track, "Blue Gum Tonic", which I've also uploaded to YouTube.
