This week we look at 2 Samuel 20–21, where old patterns of rebellion rise again and David must deal with unfinished business from the past. Sheba leads another revolt, Joab’s violence resurfaces, and the shadow of Saul’s sins still affects the nation.

Yet in the middle of betrayal, grief, and judgment, we see glimpses of wisdom, compassion, and ultimately God’s mercy. Rizpah’s heartbreaking vigil moves David to honor Saul’s family, and God answers prayer for the land. David himself faces new giants but can’t fight alone—thank God for brothers in the battle and sisters in the struggle.

These chapters remind us:
Rebellion and sin must be cut off at the root.
Unresolved sin from the past can hinder our walk with God today.
God uses our battles and victories to inspire others and strengthen the next generation.
In Christ, the innocent Son who died in our place, we find atonement, restoration, and hope.
