The Range Rover Evoque features gesture-based technology, which enables the driver to open the tailgate hands-free. To operate the gesture tailgate, you must have a valid SmartKey on you or within 3.9 feet of your vehicle, and the ignition switched off. Make a smooth kick motion below one of the sensors, located below the rear bumper on either side. The sensor recognizes a foot gesture and the turn signals flash as the tailgate opens.
