Before I tell you about the ASUS Scar 2 specs, let me first tell you that the review we reviewed was ASUS Scar 2 GL504GW, which is the successor of the last year’s ASUS Strix Scar II with GTX 1070 graphics card. Apart from the GPU, what really changed in this newbie? Find out in this review.

Let’s start the things with the design, the ASUS Scar 2 RTX 2070 comes with a design language of the last year’s model. The device comes with hardened polycarbonate material with some camo design. It retains the square-boxed design with the LED lights still visible when you close the lid. The outer lid, however, is made up of aluminum.

Continuing with the ASUS Scar 2 features, this laptop gets a 15.6-inch IPS panel on the display front. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 2 display comes with 144Hz refresh rate with 3ms of response time. In terms of resolution, you will get Full-HD resolution. The display quality is really nice on this one. It comes with 72% Adobe RGB and 96% of sRGB color space. The display is also fairly bright at 295 nits of brightness. So with this display setup, ASUS ROG Scar 2 video editing may not be a problem at all.

Even on the performance front, the laptop comes with plenty of power. It comes with an 8th gen Intel Core i7-8750H processor with 16GB of RAM. So browsing the internet and navigating through the device won’t be a problem at all. On the graphics side, the laptop is enriched with RTX 2070 graphics, which is one of the best GPU as of now capable of ray tracing. We played various games on the device like Battlefield V, PUBG, CS: GO, Apex Legends, and so on. Below is the list of frame rates while playing the games.

Although the performance of the device was great, I had a mixed experience when it comes to ASUS ROG Strix Scar 2 thermals. Its Hyper Cool Thermal Pro system with dual 12V fans did a good job of keeping the laptop cool. After quite an extensive period of gaming, the external temperature went to 50-degrees on top of the keyboard deck. And I didn’t notice any kind of throttling either. However, the fans were on the noisy side. The fans got so loud to the point that it easily suppressed the sound from the speakers. And sometimes, the fan starts running even when it was on an Idle mode. So, don’t know what to say about that.

Powering the device is a 66 Watt-hour battery. As far as the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 2 battery life is concerned, it backed me up for around 3 hours. Since the gaming laptops devour tons of power, I was decently satisfied with the battery life here.
