This monster of a video’s FINALLY done… I had a lot of technical-aspect ideas floating around in my head for quite a while and just decided to experiment with all of that in this one video to see if they worked out. It was way too much work and there’s a lot of huge mistakes, but it was fun to make and—most of all—a big learning experience.

This is meant to be a complete AU, separate from the source games btw


Story (in chronological order, so you might want to watch the video fully then come back and read this because the flashbacks reveal the info later):

Link and Zelda have been best friends since childhood, eventually being in a romantic relationship. Within the past few years, Link’s been studying a book that he found to the point of obsession—shutting himself out from everyone, and their meetings become sparse.

The book that Link found detailed an ancient story of the First Hero Link who possessed the Triforce, and of the goddess Hylia who eventually murdered him to take his power. Realizing that he is a descendent of the First Hero and, therefore, has a right to the Triforce (oh no, he’s become self-aware of his genre!), he spends most of his time searching for its whereabouts—with little success. Though he has no Triforce power, he eventually comes across the sword spirit and becomes completely confident that he is destined for power.

Link often has nightmares about his involvement in the ordeal. He fears that Zelda’s going to get hurt.

Zelda begins to hear voices of a woman who claims that—if Zelda can summon her spirit—she can help Zelda with her troubles and make her powerful. Zelda agrees.

With Hylia’s power inside her, Zelda listens to her guidance. She meets with Link and requests his allegiance, which he agrees to. Though he thinks his quest has been hidden from everyone, she mocks his failed attempts to find the Triforce. He storms out in a rage, questioning if he really was the First Hero’s descendent.

Despite feeling guilty, Zelda is led to the Triforce by Hylia, who makes sure her resolve doesn’t falter. She touches the Triforce, sending the parts to their respective owners.

Completely intoxicated with gaining the Triforce of Courage, Link sets out to find the other Triforce pieces. He fights the owner of the Triforce of Power, who warns him of Hylia’s bloodshed of his people in the past. Link is too caught up in his resolve to put importance into his words; he brutally defeats him and has both Courage and Power. Zelda senses this and is angry, but Hylia reassures that it’ll work out.

Time passes. Zelda’s become a powerful ruler of the kingdom and Link’s become a skilled warrior, proudly boasting about his strength and defeating numerous challengers. He knows Zelda holds the Triforce of Wisdom, but is waiting for the opportune time to strike.

Zelda strikes first. She orders the army to kill Link. She is now the wielder of the full Triforce.
