With apologies to those of you who might have been hoping for a shorter video on New Year's Eve, Simon tackles one of the most beguiling and brilliant sudokus we've ever seen. It's called Circled Killers and it's the work of Sparknights, who makes their debut on the channel. The wit and vision required to set this one are astounding.

Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. Along a thermometer, digits must increase from the bulb end. Digits cannot repeat in a cage and must sum to a number (in the circle) at the cage’s top left corner. A digit that appears in a circle (killer value) indicates how many times that digit appears in all circles. A circle may contain a single-digit or double-digit number but cannot contain a multiple of 10. If it's a double-digit number, then each digit will be separately counted. For example, if a killer value of a cage is 35, then another two 3s and four 5s must be contained in the other killer values; this could be via either a single-digit 3 or 5, or double-digit totals that contain 3 or 5, like 13, 15, 25, 36, etc. No two killer cages of the same size can contain exactly the same combination of digits.
