Lighthouse Beach - Port Macquarie

Lighthouse Beach is seven kilometres south of Port Macquarie, and is a nine kilometre stretch of south-east facing sand heading to Lake Cathie. It is a favourite surf beach offering protection from the summer north easterlies. The beach picks up all available swell so it's great for the intermediate surfer and above, with short powerful rides.
A perfect beach for ideal long walks, taking a camel safari ride, beach fishing, and 4WD access at the southern end. The beach is patrolled during School Holidays and there are a kiosk and surf club on site.

Located in the seaside town of Port Macquarie, NSW, Tacking Point Lighthouse was built in 1879 and is the thirteenth oldest lighthouse in Australia. Tacking Point is a popular location for whale-watching during migration, you can walk right up to the unfenced cliff face, which offers stunning panoramic views along Australia’s Mid-North Coast.

To the left of the Lighthouse is Little Bay a small private rocky beach. Wooden stairs on the left-hand side of the lighthouse lead to Little Bay Beach. It is not as crowded as some beach bays and offers an enchanting, unblocked view of the ocean along a stretch of long coastal line. On the beach, you can explore rock pools, find crabs and shells, and climbing over the rocks.
