The city has proactively taken measures to ensure that its strategies are aligned with international and national standards and practices while remaining community-based in nature. This principle is adapted in the city’s establishment of an early warning system. The city understands that a multi-hazard early warning system is a key element in understanding disaster risk and contributes to disaster preparedness for an effective response. Hence, the city acknowledges that it is imperative to invest in, develop, maintain and strengthen a multi-hazard and multi-sectoral early warning system.
