In this video, I head north to the wild cliffs of RSPB Troup Head in Scotland—a remote and dramatic stretch of coastline that’s home to thousands of Northern Gannets, Puffins, and a whole cast of coastal birdlife.

Armed with my Nikon Z9 and 400mm f/2.8 lens, I set out with one goal: to capture the raw beauty and action of this bustling seabird colony. But what unfolds is more than I ever expected. From close encounters with soaring gannets to the unmistakable charm of puffins waddling across cliff edges, the day delivers surprise after surprise—including a few special species I didn’t see coming.

The cliffs are steep, the wind is wild, and the birds are everywhere. It’s noisy, chaotic, and absolutely stunning. Every corner of Troup Head feels alive.
