NEHALENNIA is taken from the album Throne of Astrŏarchē (2020), a collaboration between Ashtoreth & Chthonia. We created this album by individually initiating 2 compositions each, which we both added to. Nehalennia and Marmarospilia are the two tracks that I initially composed with synth, drones and vocals, which Ashtoreth added his own additions to, making the compositions fuller, empowering and expanding them into vast landscapes that transcend time and Space

Nehalennia (or Nehellenia) is a mysterious deity linked to the ocean and the underworld beneath the sea. Barbara G. Walker translates her name as “Nether Moon” and makes mention that she may be linked to Hel or Holle. It is said that altars and precious artefacts dedicated to her were discovered in Holland in 1646, after a devastating storm washed away the earth that had covered them

I composed this piece for Nehalennia, a goddess who has been almost lost to memory. Her name must be remembered, though her visage may be obscured beneath the black waters of time. This hymn for her is both lament and resurrection, calling her to life once again. May she rise through the dreams of those who would seek to know her hidden face
