She was “born-again” at the age of 14 in the Methodist Church of Concordia, and began preaching in the West at the age of sixteen in primarily Baptist Churches. Kuhlman traveled extensively around the United States and in many other countries holding “healing crusades” between the 1940s and 1970s. She had a weekly TV program in the 1960s and 1970s called I Believe In Miracles that was aired nationally. Kathryn Kuhlman is still dearly loved by both Pentecostals and Charismatics alike.”

Kathryn was enveloped by an anointing that was unmatched.  Crippled children were healed, for that matter every kind of disease was healed. 

The healings were documented and became the most convincing body of evidence for miracles that the medical community has ever seen.   The front rows of her meetings were regularly reserved for renowned surgeons, heart specialists and medical experts.

However her greatest contribution was her revelation of the Holy Spirit.  She was in Pittsburgh teaching something that was very new and real to her on the person of the Holy Spirit when a woman who was neither called out nor prayed over was instantly healed of terminal stomach cancer.

It was Kathryn that caused a generation of Spirit-filled preachers to start regarding the Holy Spirit as a person and to submit their ministry to the guidance and power of this person that she so wonderfully described.   They relearned who carried the power, wisdom, and responsibility to advance the Gospel through the evilest time.

She taught to surrender to the person who could change history.   The greatest threat in the church is self-reliance.   The challenge today is beyond our wisdom, words, methods, and programs.   The church as a whole must today renounce human wisdom in favor of the person of the Holy Spirit.

The same Holy Spirit that took, as she said, “a nobody” and raised her up to alter the course of history should inspire us to follow her example.
