The 2020 is an audio transformer designed and manufactured by Mike at Lightning Boy Audio. It is a high impedance 1:1 ratio audio transformer with less than 1dB insertion loss. The 2020 box allows you to put a high quality Lightning Boy transformer anywhere in your instrument's signal chain (1/4" jacks), giving any pedal some studio mojo before it hits your next pedal, amp, or DI Box. The 2020 will be released April 24th (unless postponed by COVID-19) and will be sold directly from Lightning Boy Audio. Retail $99 USD + shipping. The first production run will be 100 units. Technical Information:
Frequency response can vary quite a bit depending on source impedance. Total response is from 1Hz-70kHz. Below is a generic list of tested source impedances and the resultant frequency response. This information can vary a little bit and is generalized for simplicity:
Humbucker or Split-coil (P-Bass) pickup feeding into the 2020: Flat from 10Hz-5kHz with a super gentle high frequency roll off of about 1.5dB per octave. -3dB at 14kHz.
Single Coil pickup feeding into the 2020: Flat from 7Hz-28kHz
FX pedal feeding into the 2020: Flat from 2Hz-20kHz
