This video takes you behind the scenes of an exciting hotel project in Hong Kong - Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel. Located right near Aberdeen, the client for this project was a proud Hongkonger who wanted to showcase local culture and history in the design.

The team from EM Bespoke studied the location extensively to draw inspiration. One key area was the guest reception, where they came up with a stunning lighting concept. Recalling the glass spheres used by sampan fishermen during storms, night time and foggy days, they proposed a lighting composition made of large illuminated spheres suspended from the ceiling.

Working closely with historical company LODES, they sourced 120 exquisite glass spheres from Random Solo collection in varying sizes and colors to create a truly dramatic yet subtle feature. Seeing the samples in person helped sell the idea to the delighted client.

However, the location near the water posed unique challenges. Strong winds could potentially cause the spheres to sway and collide. Zodiac Lighting was a key player in helping designing supporting rods and mounts to ensure safety while still achieving an elegant display.

Despite a very tight 3 week deadline, the whole team pulled together to deliver this one-of-a-kind reception space. Come see how history, culture and design combined to create a truly memorable Hong Kong hotel experience.
