Описание к видео Castlevania Judgment -- Grant Danasty

Oh boy, it's Grant Danasty...wait...that's not Grant. Who is this guy? It's like a wise-cracking Voldo with a pair of chakrams and a penchant for shouting "Yahoo~!" has snuck his way onto the set of Castlevania Judgment. Very odd.

That said, if you can get over the extreme differences between this guy and the guy you saw in Castlevania III, he's pretty entertaining. Any battle with Grant in it is sure to keep my interest, if only for his commentary and various incidental voice clips.

Grant is one fast customer, capable of mind-boggling combination attacks that...well, look more like acrobatics than attacks, which makes me think that he's "credited" in Castlevania III as an "Acrobat" (not a pirate, although the interpretation persists anyway). He's also got a variety of projectiles at his disposal, reminiscent of his original nature in the Japanese version of Castlevania III, wherein his standard attack was identical to the Dagger subweapon, just without a heart cost.

Grant has two ways to spend his Hyper Gauge. Like everyone else, he's got a Hyper Attack that he can use when it's full...and this one seems to be pretty nice in its long range for the initial attack and happens to be very fun to look at, if you ask me. The other method he has for spending his accumulated meter is on a double-charged special, which makes him throw daggers at the cost of the meter until it empties out. This is pretty handy, because it probably does more per "unit" of meter if it hits and is certain to break the enemy's guard if they try to defend against it. I don't know that it came up in the tutorial, but a guard break costs the victim the entirety of their Hyper Gauge...although this special hitting them will more than likely fill it back up quite a bit anyway.

An interesting side note about the double-charged special...I didn't know this until recently, but you can throw a subweapon to interrupt it (it IS still a special attack, after all...special attacks can be canceled into subweapon attacks) and save the remainder of your Hyper Gauge. I actually do this the first time I use it in this video, using my Triple Shot Daggers and saving the rest of my gauge for a rainy day...in a Crystal Cavern...yeah... ... ...

I don't think the AI is very good at using Sypha, except for the jump cancel ice shower combo.

Grant's Object Action is to set an exploding dagger trap, which I actually get to pull off if you can believe it. The interesting thing is that Sypha's fire spells didn't break the object and her attempt to dodge the explosion failed...either one of those things usually thwarts an attempt to lay a trap, so I'm not sure if it's Grant or the stage that made the objects behave differently.

Speaking of objects, the glowing crystals here are the "gimmick" at work...if you could call it that. Basically in the off chance you can knock your enemy through a crystal as it's flashing instead of breaking it first, they'll suffer an attack reduction instead. It hardly ever comes up, but it's worth noting every once in a while.

Something of a curiosity...somehow somewhere along the line people keep crediting Alessandro Juliani (the voice of L in the English version of Death Note) for this role, but it's clearly the vocal stylings of Kirk Thornton. I don't get it, but I was initially fooled as well, just because I hadn't heard Kirk in a while and this voice is definitely more than a bit out of the ordinary for him. I guess this is just what happens when you have a complete lack of credits for the voice actors in a game...
