Seattle To Portland (STP) 2022 - One Day Finisher Highlights

Описание к видео Seattle To Portland (STP) 2022 - One Day Finisher Highlights

We rode our bikes 207 miles in one day! Enjoy this highlight video of my experience of biking from Seattle to Portland in one day!

This was a really fun experience this year. I've completed STP in two days in the past, but this year we decided to do it in one day. The last 30-ish miles was definitely the most challenging for me, but the rest of the ride I was having a great time. it was a pretty eventful ride for us! There was a lot of great vibes from the other riders as we went through this adventure together and probably my favorite year so far.

Alright story time for 6:42 - hopefully this makes sense 😆
I'm really sad this event wasn't caught on camera to show. Neither one of us was recording at this time, but it was actually a pretty scary moment. Keep in mind we are biking on the pathway at this point and this all happened within a few seconds.
We were in a pace line of about 4 other bikers and at this point caught up to a slower group of bikers that we wanted to pass. We all waited a bit before it was signaled in front that it was clear to pull to the side and pass the other bikers. Soon after starting to pass, pedestrians were spotted walking towards us shoulder to shoulder (not single file). There wasn't much space between the pedestrians and the bikers because of this, so the whole pace line was trying to merge back into the pack of bikers that we we're already in the process of passing.
I was close to the back of the pace line so I was one of the last people to get communicated about/see the pedestrians. These pedestrians didn't move to the side at all - still walking shoulder to shoulder as we are heading straight for them!
There wasn't much space next to me to merge, so I had to suddenly slam on my brakes. My back tire skids and whips out to the side as I barely pull out of the way just in time to miss crashing into the people walking. Luckily everyone behind me was able to react quick enough and dodge them as well. Seriously. It was insanely close to a horrible wreck!
So this led to my tire getting worn through and eventually popping later down the path.

Shout out to Cascade Bicycle Club and the volunteers that make this event possible.
Shout out to my family for coming out the support and cheer us on.
Shout out to Miguel for joining me on this ride.

Hope you enjoyed watching!
And if anyone is curious, yes. We saw Scott at the finish.
