I was lucky enough to receive an Advanced Readers Copy of this book, but all opinions are my own.

This indie author definitely surprised me in the best way with “Who Made the Bard a God”. This fantasy novel brings to life the world where gods can walk amongst us in any form without us even knowing. This story focuses on Faelynn, or better yet Love posing as a Bard.

This story brings to life the concept of fate and how our relationships, whether romantic, familial, enemy, or otherwise, through threads that only Love and those with the site can see. As the god of love and music travels through the kingdom, his sister brings him news that an event involving him will take place. To complicate matters, Love finally meets his first thread, meant for love which takes them on a journey complicated with many real issues of today - bigotry, racism, etc.

What is even more compelling about this story is the philosophical debate of whether the “threads” or connections that tether us to each other are destined by fate without choice, or is there still free will amongst man even when fate in involved. The author takes a beautiful and lighthearted approach to this and provides the backdrop of this fantasy realm to explore complex questions and issues that we see in real life, while getting to live through the beauty of the world from Love’s eyes.
