Описание к видео British Generals Called It a "Cardboard Tank" Then It Destroyed 60 Panzers at El Alamein

May 1942. The desert outside Cairo, Egypt.
British tank crews did something they had done dozens of times before—they mocked American equipment. The M3 Grant rolled off the flatcars ten feet tall with a hull-mounted gun that couldn't traverse. Someone called it a cardboard tank. The name spread like wildfire.
But that mockery was premature.
While British crews complained, they didn't know what the Grant's 75mm gun could do. Near Bir Hakeim, a Grant crew killed a Panzer III at twenty-five hundred yards—a range where British guns couldn't even penetrate. The high profile that seemed fatal kept the hull hidden while the powerful gun worked at distances Germans had never faced.
Tank commanders who dismissed the Grant as obsolete suddenly watched it destroy Panzers before enemy return fire could reach them. The "cardboard" armor was deflecting German rounds. The fixed gun didn't matter when you killed the enemy at impossible ranges.
By October 1942, Montgomery faced Rommel at El Alamein with one hundred sixty-four Grants as his armored spearhead. Over four days, Grant squadrons annihilated German armor. Sixty Panzers destroyed. Rommel's reserve shattered. The Afrika Korps forced into retreat.
This video reveals the untold story of the cardboard tank and the autumn of 1942 when mockery became vindication.
