The scrapping of Article 370 by the Modi government is a historic decision for many reasons. This move has two implications:

Socio-political and
Economic

For decades the focus was on socio-political implications but there's another economic dimension to the issue.

Lack of investments and lack of job opportunities forced people to look to the state for employment. The public sector which has a limited scope to provide jobs, could not cater to this leading to a high rate of unemployment in the valley.

Unemployed people tend to indulge in crime, terrorism etc.

But now with the private sector coming in, more growth and more job opportunities can bring about a change in the situation as more and more opportunities are likely to come up.

Also known as the Switzerland of India, Kashmir is all set to become the biggest tourist hotspot in India. Besides this, the government is planning a huge annual investors summit there to attract investments.

With the rights of marginalized people getting recognized, a lot is going to change about Kashmir over the coming months but the biggest beneficiaries of the changes in Article 370 will be none other than the local people of Kashmir.
