In Exodus 5, Pharaoh sees himself as a god, tightening his grip on the Israelites and increasing their suffering. When the people are beaten and forced to gather their own straw, they send their elders to appeal to Pharaoh. But they do not cry out to God.

This moment reveals something deeper: God’s people were still holding onto idols and misplaced trust. Even after witnessing God’s power, they looked to human authority instead of the One who had promised deliverance.

In this message, Pastor Josh Gerard reminds us that knowing about God is not the same as truly knowing Him. Moses knew God’s promises, but he did not yet know Him the way Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did. So God reminds Moses, and us, of who He is.
