VCV Rack – Generative Quad Shift Register Cells

Описание к видео VCV Rack – Generative Quad Shift Register Cells

This is based on an analog shift register-based 'note allocation' patch I've done in hardware modular. The idea is that a looping random source (into a quantizer) sends notes to a shift register, and those notes are subsequently sent in order to 4 VCOs in succession.

I've expanded it in VCV rack to drive 4 'shift register cells' simultaneously, producing overlapping notes from 32 VCOs (8 per cell). Each cell can produce two notes at a time, so this is effectively 8 voice polyphony.

Each cell uses Marbles by Mutable Instruments to generate random voltages and counterpart gate patterns. The gate pattern are used as a trigger source to drive 8 low pass gates that are actings as independent VCAs for each VCO.

Each cell also has a matrix mixer than collects and distributes two random voltages from Marbles and a sample & hold module, and sums the values to be used as pitches (quantized to a common scale), as well as controlling envelope/low pass gate dynamics.
