The episode aired on Monday, February 28, 1983 and was watched by 106 million people and 121 million in its last minutes. Only the Superbowl commands a larger audience. Compare that with final episodes of "Seinfeld" at 76.3 million, or "Cheers" at 84.4 million.
The Good Morning America interview was broadcast live on Thursday, February 24, 1983.
