Short video that demonstrates the way Uyghurs in Kashgar were asked to perform their patriotism by celebrating Chinese New Year. There are numerous reports that refusing to attend and display one's enjoyment of Han cultural events, resulted in fines and detention in reeducation centers. In the past the festival was seen as a non-Islamic Han cultural festival that Uyghurs nearly universally abstained from. Now the women and children who are not in reeducation centers are being forced to demonstrate their love for the Chinese nation and Han culture by celebrating the lunar new year.
