Tune into another episode where we head out for a pre-race day shake out ride with Chris Miller
(‪@NeroShowCycling‬) 5th place finisher at Peaks Challenge 2025. This video showcases what I got up to the day before the big event, joining Chris for a crucial reconnaissance ride down to Trapyard Gap, covering the last 16kms of the notorious Back of Falls.

We have some insightful on-bike conversations about proper fuelling and carb loading strategies for the day before a major event. Both Chris Miller and Dan Forsythe share valuable knowledge about what works best and what to avoid when preparing for such an intense challenge.

The roads we traveled were absolutely stunning and incredibly smooth - making for a beautiful ride out to Trapyard Gap. Once there, Chris chatted through what to expect on race day and revealed his personal "openers" routine for the day before. We even attempted to hold his wheel up the Back of Falls (probably not the smartest decision with 235kms looming the next day!)

After returning to the event village, we focused on carb loading, as we were all concerned about not having eaten enough. This video provides great insight into what you should do the day before Peaks Challenge and suggests an ideal route you can follow for next year's event in 2026!

Peaks Challenge was a brilliant day out, and now that all the pain has passed, I'm already keen to come back next year and tackle a sub-9 hour time! Special shoutout to Chris for bringing me out on this reconnaissance ride - I would've definitely struggled from Trapyard if I hadn't known what lay ahead.
