TRANSLATION
Hear us, O Lord, and have mercy,
for we have sinned against You.
Hear us, O Lord, and have mercy,
for we have sinned against You.
To You we cry, O merciful God,
in ashes and in sackcloth.
We have strayed from Your ways;
we have followed our own will.
Our heart is divided;
our hands are not clean.
Turn toward us, O Lord,
and restore to us Your peace.
A broken and humbled heart
You will not despise, O Lord.
Wash us from our iniquity,
and cleanse us from our sin.
Renew a right spirit within us;
cast us not away from Your presence.
Restore to us the joy of Your salvation,
and strengthen us in charity.
Into the desert You call us, O Lord,
that we may hear Your voice.
Take from us our pride,
and grant the silence of the heart.
In our hunger be our bread;
in our thirst be the fountain of living water.
Lead us along the path of repentance
to the light of Your face.
Behold the wood of the Cross,
on which hung the Salvation of the world.
You bore our wounds
and carried our sorrows.
Your Blood was poured out upon us
for the forgiveness of sins.
Lamb of God, have mercy on us,
and grant us new life.
In the garden of sorrow You prayed,
“Father, let Your will be done.”
In fear and anguish
You taught obedience.
When we sleep in negligence,
awaken us to watchfulness.
In the night of temptation,
be our light.
For the sins of Your people
we cry out to You, O Lord.
For pride and division,
for love grown cold—
Gather us into one
beneath the Cross of Your Son.
Let our fasting become justice,
and our almsgiving mercy.
From ashes You will raise us,
and from death lead us to life.
The stone of the tomb will not remain;
the shadow of death will not prevail.
Through repentance to glory,
through tears to joy.
Prepare our hearts, O Lord,
for the day of Resurrection.
Hear us, O Lord, and have mercy,
for we have sinned against You.
Hear us, O Lord…
and have mercy.
Whether you pray along actively or allow the chant to carry you into rest, may this prayer bring peace to your heart and clarity to your soul.
🙏 Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis
