Factors necessary for the Maturation of red blood cells

Описание к видео Factors necessary for the Maturation of red blood cells

The maturation of red blood cells requires several factors, including vitamin B12 (cobalamin) and vitamin B9 (folate). A lack of either of these vitamins can cause maturation failure in the process of erythropoiesis, which manifests clinically as reticulocytopenia, an abnormally low amount of reticulocytes. Additionally, iron is required for hemoglobin synthesis and normal RBC maturation . Reticulocytes mature into normal, functional RBCs after 24 hours in the bloodstream .
