"Forget about the City Status", Finance Minister Musasizi tells Kabale Residents.

The State Minister of Finance in charge of general duties Hon Henry Musasizi has justifiably declined the hopes of Kabale District residents saying that Kabale will not be upgraded to a city status claiming that the government no longer has such plans.

Kabale district was among the 15 districts the cabinet of Uganda approved to have a city status In May 2019 in a phased manner and according to the recent communication from the authorities, Kabale City boundary consultations were to be made in 2025.

Minister Musasizi says that the city upgrade resolution failed because, as the finance committee they advised president Museveni that these cities will only bring expenses to the country that is already fighting on recovering the limping economy to where by a city needs new administrators such as Members of Parliament, Lord Mayors and including increased taxes and this doesn’t generate income to both the country and residents of Kabale and Kigezi at large.
